Product Description
Custom Printed Gildan 2000 Ultra Cotton T-Shirt
The Gildan 2000 Ultra Cotton is a 6-ounce, 100% US cotton T-shirt with a classic fit, seamless body and prepared-for-dyeing fabric carrying no starches, sizing or finishes. Industrial and outdoor employers order it printed because it outlasts lighter tees - plant floors, fabrication shops, moving crews, road maintenance. Wholesale Caps and Embroidery decorates it in-house at our Houston, TX facility, where we have printed and embroidered apparel since 1979.
Six ounces of cotton is the most forgiving screen printing surface there is: the fabric is dense enough that ink does not sink or show fabric texture, so large front and back prints come out solid and hold up through industrial laundry. Because the fabric is prepared for dyeing, with no finishes on the surface, ink and dye adhere directly to the fiber. DTF (direct-to-film) printing covers detailed or short-run work. Left chest embroidery is available on the heavy body.
Product Features
- 6-ounce, 100% US cotton - the heaviest standard tee in this range
- Prepared for dyeing (PFD): no starches, sizing or finishes on the fabric
- Classic fit, seamless body
- Non-topstitched, classic width rib collar with taped neck and shoulders
- Recycled, high-performing black tear-away label
- 61 colors, S through 5XL
Why Buyers Pick It
Buy this one when the shirt has to survive the job. Six ounces is a full ounce heavier than a standard heavy cotton tee - it does not go transparent, it does not stretch out at the collar after a month, and it takes an industrial wash cycle without turning into a rag. Shops that issue two shirts a year instead of four end up here. The prepared-for-dyeing fabric is a bonus if you ever want to garment-dye or tie-dye a run, since there are no finishes in the way.
Sizing
Sizes run S through 5XL, extended 2XL through 5XL included, which matters on an industrial roster where the size spread is wide. Mix every size on one order at no minimum - no tier to hit, no penalty for an odd size run, and a single replacement shirt for one employee is a perfectly normal order. The fit is classic with a seamless body. For a lighter alternative see the Gildan 5000, and the women's cut is the Gildan 2000L.
How to Order
There is no minimum on this shirt. Order a single piece if that is all you need, or a few hundred for a full staff rollout - the price per piece is the only thing that changes. Send your logo in any format you have and we return a free digital mockup showing size, placement and ink or thread colors. Nothing goes to production until you approve it. Production runs 7-10 business days from proof approval, rush is available on request, and ground shipping is free on most orders.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are custom Gildan 2000 Ultra Cotton T-shirts?
They are 6-ounce, 100% US cotton tees printed or embroidered with your logo by Wholesale Caps and Embroidery. We are a decorator - the Gildan 2000 blanks come to our Houston, TX facility and we screen print, DTF print or embroider them in-house. We have been decorating apparel since 1979.
Is there a minimum order on the Gildan 2000?
There is no minimum. You can order one piece - a single shirt for a sample, a replacement for a new hire, or one shirt to check the fit before you commit to a size run. The same decoration is available at one piece as at five hundred. The only exception in our catalog is headwear: embroidered caps carry a 12-cap minimum, while every shirt on this page does not.
How heavy is Ultra Cotton compared with other tees?
6 ounces of 100% US cotton, versus 5.3 ounces for heavy cotton and 4.5 ounces for Softstyle. It is the thickest, most opaque and most durable of the three, which is why it is the usual pick for work environments. Sizes run S through 5XL.
What does prepared for dyeing (PFD) mean for printing?
It means the fabric carries no starches, sizing or surface finishes. Ink bonds directly to the cotton rather than to a chemical finish, which helps screen printed prints wash well, and it makes the shirt suitable if you ever want it garment-dyed or tie-dyed before decoration.
Do you keep my artwork on file for reorders?
Yes. Once your logo is digitized for embroidery or set up as screen print film or a DTF file, we keep it on file at our Houston facility. Reorders skip setup entirely - you tell us the style, colors and size run, and we print from the file we already have. That keeps a second run cheaper and keeps your logo identical from the first shirt to the five hundredth.
Can the same logo go on other styles?
Yes, and it is a common request. Industrial accounts often run the 2000 for the floor crew and the same logo on caps for the yard. Mixing categories is fine on one order too - shirts, polos and embroidered caps can all carry the same mark. Just note that the shirts have no minimum and can be ordered one at a time, while caps are ordered in multiples of 12.
How long does production take?
Production is 7-10 business days from the moment you approve the digital mockup, and ground shipping on most orders is free. Rush production is available on request - tell us your event date when you send the artwork and we will confirm what is possible before you pay. Reorders from artwork already on file usually move faster because there is no setup step.

Proof
Proof
- After your order is placed, we enter it into our system and send an "Artwork & Mockup Approval" email within 24-36 hours. This is to verify design, design placement, size, and product colors.
- Once you approve the artwork mockup, we create the .dst file (stitch file). This file is used to tell our embroidery machines what to stitch. Note: Cancellation after this step incurs a $30 restocking fee.
- We create a sewout and/or update the mockup using the .dst file and send it to you for approval. It's at this point where you want to make sure all colors, size, and placement are as requested.
- You may request changes to the same design before sewout and/or .dst approval. A completely new design request at this stage incurs a $30 fee.
- After final approval, production begins. Once items are decorated, the order is non-refundable unless there is a defect in the product or decoration.
