Product Description

Custom Embroidered Port Authority Core Soft Shell Jacket (J317)

The Port Authority Core Soft Shell Jacket (J317) is a wind-resistant, water-repellent bonded soft shell built on a 100% polyester woven shell with a water-resistant film insert and a polyester microfleece lining. It carries a 1000MM waterproof rating and a 1000G/M2 breathability rating. Companies buy it as a year-round uniform layer for field crews, service techs and dealership staff. Wholesale Caps and Embroidery decorates every one in-house at our Houston, Texas facility, where we have been embroidering apparel since 1979.

Embroidery is the right method here and the one we lead with. A flat-stitch left chest logo is the standard placement on this jacket; 3D puff adds dimension on a back yoke or across the shoulders. Woven and leather patches also sit well on a bonded soft shell when you want a heavier badge look, and DTF print is available for detailed multi-color art. Every stitch is run in-house in Houston — your artwork never leaves our building.

Product Features

  • 100% polyester woven shell bonded to a water-resistant film insert with a 100% polyester microfleece lining (heather colors use a 92/8 poly/spandex shell)
  • 1000MM fabric waterproof rating and 1000G/M2 fabric breathability rating — wind-resistant and water-repellent
  • Zip-through cadet collar with chin guard and reverse coil zippers
  • Front zippered pockets, open cuffs and open hem
  • Rental-friendly construction that holds up to repeat laundering
  • 11 colors and a size run from XS through 6XL

Why Buyers Pick It

This is the value pick in soft shells. At this price you can put a real weatherproof layer on an entire crew without the per-unit number that stops a uniform budget cold, and the rental-friendly build means it survives the laundry cycle that kills cheaper jackets. When someone loses one or a new hire starts, you reorder a single piece off the same file instead of buying another case. That combination — low unit cost, hard-wearing, and reorderable one at a time — is why it ends up in more corporate uniform programs than anything else on the outerwear page.

Sizing

Sizes run XS through 6XL, ten sizes in all. That includes the extended range — 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL are all stocked, so nobody on the crew gets left out of the program. Mix the size run however you like: two smalls and one 5XL is a normal order here because there is no minimum and no quantity tier to reach. If you have tall staff, the same jacket is available in Tall sizes as the TLJ317, and the jackets collection has the rest of the range.

How to Order

Send us your logo in any usable format and tell us the colors and sizes you want. There is no minimum on the Core Soft Shell Jacket — order a single piece or several hundred. We send a free digital mockup showing the embroidery at actual size and position, and nothing is stitched until you approve it. Production runs 7–10 business days after approval, and ground shipping is free on most orders. Rush production is available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Core Soft Shell Jacket?
It is the Port Authority Core Soft Shell Jacket. J317 decorated with your logo. Wholesale Caps and Embroidery is a decorator, not a blank-goods supplier: we buy the garment and put your mark on it, embroidering every piece in-house at our own Houston, Texas facility. We have been doing it since 1979, and your artwork never leaves our building.

Is there a minimum order?
No. There is no minimum on the Core Soft Shell Jacket. Order a single piece if that is all you need, or several hundred for a full rollout — the process is the same either way. Caps are the one exception in our catalog — embroidered caps start at 12 pieces. Everything in outerwear has no minimum.

What sizes does the J317 come in?
XS through 6XL, including 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. You can mix sizes freely on one order at no minimum. Tall sizes are available separately as the TLJ317.

Where should our logo go on a soft shell?
Left chest is the standard spot and the one most companies use. A back yoke works well for a larger mark, and a sleeve hit is common for a secondary logo or a department name. We match thread colors to your brand colors and show every placement on the free mockup before we stitch.

Do you keep our artwork on file for reorders?
Yes. We digitize your logo once and keep the embroidery file on our system in Houston. Reorders run off that same file, so the stitch matches the first order and there is no new setup to pay for.

Can we put the same logo on other items?
Yes. One digitized file runs on the Core Soft Shell Jacket, polos, hoodies, bags and more, so a whole uniform program matches. You can mix apparel and caps on a single order — apparel has no minimum, while caps start at 12 pieces.

How long does an order take?
7–10 business days from the moment you approve the free digital mockup. Rush production is available on request — give us your in-hands date when you send artwork and we will tell you straight away if it is workable.

Browse the full outerwear collection for vests, puffers and fleece, or ask us for a free digital mockup of your logo on the J317 — there is no minimum, so you can start with one.

Proof

  1. After your order is placed, we enter it into our system and send an "Artwork & Mockup Approval" email within 24-36 hours. This is to verify design, design placement, size, and product colors.
  2. Once you approve the artwork mockup, we create the .dst file (stitch file). This file is used to tell our embroidery machines what to stitch. Note: Cancellation after this step incurs a $30 restocking fee.
  3. We create a sewout and/or update the mockup using the .dst file and send it to you for approval. It's at this point where you want to make sure all colors, size, and placement are as requested.
  4. You may request changes to the same design before sewout and/or .dst approval. A completely new design request at this stage incurs a $30 fee.
  5. After final approval, production begins. Once items are decorated, the order is non-refundable unless there is a defect in the product or decoration.

Setup Charge

A $30 setup fee is automatically added to the cart and required for all orders. This covers the order processing costs.
